Reginald, here you are!
Here is Prof. Tricia Wang’s talk at LIFT!!!
How did a student end up making international headlines for throwing shoes at the architect of China’s internet censorship infrastructure and then become the hero for information freedom worldwide? Tricia tells us what happened to the student and how the outcomes were dependent on a variety of factors that tells us a lot about how we socialize and build trust online.

I didn’t notice the “upload picture” button before… It is real…
Is there anyone like me who didn’t notice it?
oh…tricia…
When they showed me the basin of warm water they had prepared for me to wash my face, I automatically blurted out, “it’s ok, i don’t need to wash my face tonight,” despite the fact that I had been walking around in a village all day & knew that my face had a layer of dirt on it. I’ve been in almost every kind of bathroom situation possible, but this was the first time that in such a newly modeled toilet in a village w/ a face washing basin next to the toilet. I have never washed my face squatting next to pee & poop. But then I said just suck it up tricia, it’s clean water which is rare & just don’t breathe. Plus I felt bad that they had prepared warm water, so it would’ve been rude of me to decline. For a moment i contemplated faking my face wash by dumping the water into the toilet. Morning train ritual: waiting in line for bathroom & to brush teeth. By now the bathrooms are horrific. Flushers never work. China (Taken with instagram)
Morning train ritual: coming down from your bunk & putting shoes on. I heard that in the past people were didn’t trust that their shoes wouldn’t be stolen so they would sleep with their shoes on. All the little signs of how economic change & trust are closely linked. China (Taken with instagram)
